Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, fondly known as APJ Abdul Kalam, was born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. After graduating in Physics from Madras University, he joined the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in 1958.

Contributions to Aerospace Science

Dr. Kalam played a pivotal role in India's aerospace program, earning him the title "Missile Man of India." He was the Project Director of India's first indigenous Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-III), which successfully launched the Rohini satellite in 1980.

Presidency and Legacy

After a distinguished career in research, Dr. Kalam was elected as the 11th President of India in 2002. During his five-year term, he emphasized scientific advancements, education, and nation-building. Dr. Kalam passed away on July 27, 2015, leaving behind an enduring legacy as a visionary leader and an inspiration to countless Indians.
