Los Angeles Chargers Elevate S Tony Jefferson, LB Shaquille Quarterman

DEPTH CHANCES FOR DEFENSIVE BACKS, LINEBACKERS

The Los Angeles Chargers announced a series of roster moves on Saturday ahead of their Week 15 matchup against the Tennessee Titans, including elevating safety Tony Jefferson and linebacker Shaquille Quarterman to the active roster from the practice squad.

MOVES COULD BOLSTER INJURY-RAVAGED DEFENSE

Jefferson, a nine-year NFL veteran, has played in 12 games for the Chargers this season, starting one. He has recorded 26 tackles, three passes defensed, and one forced fumble. Quarterman, a former fourth-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019, has appeared in four games for the Chargers this season, primarily on special teams.

The Chargers are dealing with injuries in both their secondary and at linebacker. Safety Derwin James Jr. is on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, and cornerback Michael Davis is questionable to play against the Titans with an ankle injury.

DEPTH FOR CHARGERS DEFENSE

The elevation of Jefferson and Quarterman gives the Chargers some much-needed depth on defense. Jefferson can play both safety positions, while Quarterman can play inside or outside linebacker.

The Chargers are hoping that the addition of Jefferson and Quarterman will help them get back on track after losing two straight games. The Chargers are currently 7-6 and in a three-way tie for first place in the AFC West.
